On my journey of learning to trust and not to fear, Pat and I started out with going to our twin grandson’s Birthday party. There were a lot more people there than we expected and probably 15-20 kids. For those of you that don’t know this. This is the first time since COVID-19 hit that I went to see my grandkids. And hug them! 🙂 I missed them so much and it felt good! So good! And normal! Although it was a little uncomfortable being in someone else’s home (even if it was our son and daughter-in-law’s) with so many people, we stayed.
This visit with our grand kids was the beginning of me starting to really trust and not to fear. It was the most “ordinary” thing I’ve done in months. And life started to feel a little more normal. The next step we took was having my brother and our two nephews over for dinner. The first time in months that my brother came in our house without a mask on, and the first time we’ve seen our nephews in months. We had so much fun!
Every day I am starting to feel His strength more and more, and the fear is dissipating. Don’t get me wrong, I know that this disease is horrible and deadly. I’ve heard enough stories from people I know who know someone who either had it and died or had an awful time with it and took months to recover. In fact I am in the hospital with my mom (Not covid, and she’s okay ☺) as I write this and 2 days ago when we got here a nurse told us they only had 2 patients with COVID-19 and they are in ICU. Today the Dr told me they are less 1 patient. (They didn’t make it 😔) . So sad.
i am standing strong!
Although I know that this disease is very bad especially for high-risk people (there are a couple in my house) and I will still be smart and take extra steps to keep it as far away from me & my family as possible, I am standing strong with Jesus! I believe with all of my heart that we are covered under His wings and protected. Therefore fear can take a flying leap!! The following are just a few of the many promises I am holding on to and standing strong with while I am learning to trust and not to fear. Just like a child.
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Isaiah 41:10 NKJV.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 NKJV
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
II Timothy 1:7 NKJV.

continuing to live
I am now starting to meet with friends outside at restaurants and I am enjoying this so much!! Yesterday I had a chance meeting with one of our grandkids at the grocery store and it felt so good to give him such a big hug! 💝Tomorrow I am meeting with a couple friends for lunch. I am so happy that I finally got out of my fear funk! and am continuing to live my life and I am feeling so normal (my normal).
my suggestion
My suggestion right now, because I had a couple people ask me how I am handling this covid thing. Is to treat it as if it were the flu and wash your hands like you were taught in preschool 😉, and don’t touch your face until you do. And this next suggestion is something that I have disagreed with, with some people I know. If you are sick. Stay home!! I used to cut hair and could not believe how many people came in when they were sick. And how some boss’s thought you should still come in and cut hair when you were sick, because they still came in when they were sick (High achievers LOL). Money is not more important than health! To me. And lastly, live your life. Trust in something bigger than you and have fun not fear.
Oh and one more thing. Please try to get enough sunshine (Vitamin D) every day. At least 15 min. And remember to get your “Happy Lamp” for those gloomy days. They are wonderful!
