The feeling of empowerment is amazing! This doesn’t mean that we are controlling everything, just that we are IN CONTROL OF OUR OWN LIVES. In this crazy world, especially now with the uncertainty of the virus, along with so many other things in this world, it could feel like your life is spinning out of your control. Like other people actually run your life. This is not such a great feeling. And it doesn’t have to be that way!
taking control = Empowerment
For many individuals with mental health issues, this feeling of empowerment may feel like a very distant, maybe non-achievable dream. But it doesn’t have to be. It can be a reality for you. There are many things you can do to achieve empowerment and one very important thing I do recommend is creating your own Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP – by Mary Ellen Copeland). You can do this on your own or you can work with someone who is WRAP certified. If you would like to find out more about this you can contact me at Just Breathe Deeply. I can explain it in more detail and I can help you find someone to work with or if you would like, I am WRAP certified so you can work with me. You can build a solid action plan to help you feel and be in control of your own life. This is very empowering!
Another important part is, yes diet and exercise. These two things play key roles in helping you to feel healthy and strong enough to want to take control. I actually do not like the word “diet” in fact I haven’t been on a diet in many years. I am always, although on a quest to improve my eating habits to a more healthy way of eating. This is a life long improvement instead of a short term diet. To start with, I like to find the healthier alternative to what I am wanting to eat. I personally recommend a combination of things. I like to have a protein meal replacement shake in the morning and I prefer to have the Isagenix shakes. These have all of the nutrients you need in a meal and they taste great! Besides the health benefits, they are so easy to make and I don’t have to think about what to eat.
for her eyes only
I have also learned a lot about my metabolism and hormones. Especially for women, I believe it’s important to learn how our eating and exercise needs to change as we age and our bodies and hormones change. How much and when we eat and how much and how we exercise needs to change through out the years. This plays a very big part in our weight loss and our energy and mood levels. I learned a lot of this through a wonderful company called The Natural Health Sherpa/Metabolic Living. I included the link for you to get your kit. It is very empowering to take the time to know how our hormones work and can actually work for us. And BIG BONUS, the exercises are created especially for women!!! I believe this is worth it and so are you!! This is another way we can be in control of our own lives.
For Everyone 35 And Over
For anyone 35 and over, you may be noticing that your metabolism is slowing down and what used to work to burn off fat and calories is now not as effective. This can be very frustrating and can cause us to have less energy and affect our mood and then we may start to feel depressed. This was happening to me and I did know already that when I don’t eat so well or I am not so active, my mood is greatly affected.
I started doing a lot of research about this and I have learned that we can trigger our metabolism in a much healthier and quicker and smarter way than I thought. It has actually been proven that running, cycling, or doing aerobics for hours on end not only drives up your stress and hunger hormones, but it does very little to burn fat… I don’t know about you, but when I got done with a 45 min – 1hr work out, I just wanted to eat. Jonny Bowden, PhD has a program that has made an impact on me and an amazing change in my way of thinking. Although I am currently following the Metabolic Renewal for women, I do believe that this is also a wonderful program. You can click here to find out more about it.
Good Quality Supplements
I do also recommend good quality supplements. “Common supplements include vitamins, minerals and herbal products, also known as botanicals. People take these supplements to make sure they get enough essential nutrients and to maintain or improve their health.” News in health.
I do think that getting the nutrition we need is always best coming straight from the food we eat. But unfortunately it can be very difficult to do that. So Pat and I opt for supplements just to make sure we are getting everything we need and we do get our supplements from our trusted choice, Isagenix, or you can get them from any good health food store. I do recommend reading this article before you go out and buy any. What You Need to Know about Dietary Supplements. I also have this book “Prescription For Nutritional Healing” And I find it very informative. Just saying ๐
Lastly, I think it is so important to spend time alone with yourself with no music or any interruptions. ” Just be” quiet and listen to your thoughts. This really helps us to know us. You would be amazed at how many people find this very uncomfortable at first. With practice you will start to feel more comfortable with yourself. ๐
